The Money Team in The U.K. For Saturday Fight – Floyd Mayweather Jr takes IBF world super featherweight titleholder Gervonta Davis over to London, England for the 17-0 champion’s first title defense as he faces Liam Walsh (21-0).
Davis won the IBF belt at 130 pounds this past January with a strong KO of veteran Jose Pedraza at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Not many 22 year old champions get to headline New York City followed by London back to back (Davis fight with Pedraza was technically the co-feature to Badou Jack vs James DeGale but the “Tank” stole the show).
Despite the hullabaloo around Davis’ they are taking a risk going into the undefeated Walsh’s home town for their first title defense. At 30 years old Walsh has worked his way up the ranks of Britain’s robust regional boxing scene and this is his first shot at a world title. The question in this fight is which fighter will adjust better since both are facing a new level of competition in this one. Davis enters a strong favorite.
The Money Team in The U.K. For Saturday Fight
The Davis vs Walsh main event sits atop a huge card that sees 15 fights on the schedule. The card is promoted by Frank Warren and the fights will air on BT Sport in the United Kingdom. A pair of the support fights featuring regional titles are also getting attention at the sport books and more matches from this giant card may pop up. Interestingly, the main event has the most competitive line of all the fights being offered.
