Triple G Invades NYC Faces Jacobs Saturday – This coming Saturday, March 18th sees HBO pay-per-view feature middleweight title unification action as Gennady Golovkin (36-0) takes on Daniel Jacobs (32-1).

Golovkin is the big name here as he brings the WBC and IBF world titles at 160 pounds to the fight. For his part Jacobs is the WBA world titleholder and the fight is being billed as Triple “G”s toughest challenge to date. Jacobs is goin to enter the ring on Saturday night a big time underdog to Golovkin, but there are a few factors that could give Jacobs an opening.

Jacobs is from Brooklyn, New York and will be fighting in his hometown. Last December of 2015 he took on undefeated rival Peter Quillin in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in a fight billed as a near pick ’em “battle of New York” and Jacobs blew Quillin out of the water. Jacobs only got one fight in for calendar year 2016 which killed as lot of his momentum.

Jacobs is a survivor of a fight against cancer and as such is an inspirational story once you get to know him. What he has accomplished in beating the disease and going on to box and win a world title should be inspirational to millions but Jaocbs has generally received little notice from the general public. That could all change this weekend if Jacobs is able to break through and take out the feared Golovkin.
