Two World Title Fights Saturday Boxing Odds – The Premier Boxing Champions are in Toledo, Ohio this Friday night with a boxing card that is topped by two world title fights set to air on BounceTV in The United States.
Undefeated 26 year old Robert Easter Jr (18-0) captured the vacant IBF world lightweight title with a hard fought split decision win over Richard Commey. Easter Jr is from Toledo, and this match at home marks his first title defense so it is clear that a showcase for Easter was in store and not a truly hard bout. Luis Cruz iss 22-4-1 but he is just 3-4-1 since November of 2011.We last saw Cruz in April of 2016 on a PBC “Toe to Toe Tuesday” broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and he fought Ivan Redkach to a draw. How that warrants a world title shot in his next fight needs some explaining.
Also making his first title defense is nearby Cincinnti’s own WBA bantamweight world champion Rau’shee Warren (14-1). Warren s coming off a pair of fights with Juan Carlos Payano that saw the men go 1-1. Warren won the last outing back in June to take the belt by majority draw. There maybe a third fight at some point, but for this one Warren is facing Zhanat Zhakiyanov (26-1). Zhakiyanov is out of Kazakhstan and he has a 21 fight winningstreak heading into this one. Though he is a battle tested veteran who has fought in England, Thailand, Russia, Australia and Monaco to name a few places, this is his debut stateside.
The card also counts on Jamel Herring (15-1) Art Hovhannisyan (17-3-3) that could get a line at the books as we get closer to fight time. Check local listings for start times.
