The Texas Longhorns are 0-2 ATS as home favorites of 7.5 to 10 points this year

TCU had a chance to catch its breath with a week off, as it attempts to bounce back from a 23-10 setback to the Kansas State Wildcats as 6.5-point home underdogs, while going UNDER the total for the second time in three contests.  “That was definitely a tough game,” stated Horned Frogs offensive linemen Blaize Foltz.  The Horned Frogs have tallied a solid 13-9 record against ranked teams under head coach Gary Patterson, as they look to improve upon their 2-2 ATS record as an underdog this season.  TCU is also 8-7 ATS on the road over the last two-plus seasons, something to consider when making your Week 13 college football picks against the spread.

The Horned Frogs possess one of the better defensive units in the league, as they did manage to hold the Wildcats to 260 yards of total offense.  TCU has had 21 players make their first collegiate starts this year, which includes quarterback Trevone Boykin, who stepped in after Casey Pachall was suspended for the remainder of the season.  Since 2005, the program has tallied the nation’s best record when ahead or even in turnover margin.

Texas has won four games in a row, which includes a dominating 33-7 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones as 10.5-point home favorites, as it finished with a 332-yard statistical advantage.  “It’s the second year of this offense,” stated Longhorns head coach Mack Brown.  Quarterback David Ash has been piloting the group for most of the 2012 campaign, as he sits in ninth place on the school’s all-time passing list with 3,433 yards.  The Longhorns have also been averaging 201.5 rushing yards per game over their last four contests.  Texas is 1-5 ATS as a home favorite of 7.5 to 10 points the last two-plus seasons, while the UNDER is 4-2 in that situation.

The Longhorns have won 15 consecutive home games in this series, but only two of those meetings have come since 1995.  Texas has accumulated a dominating 55-9 record when facing teams from the Lone Star State, with the nine losses coming by a combined 73 points.  The team has used its fourth-quarter dominance to put together its current win streak, outscoring opponents by a 38-10 margin in the final 15 minutes in those contests.

Sports bettors will likely back the Horned Frogs due to their 9-1 ATS mark following a straight-up loss, while the Longhorns are 2-7 ATS at home versus teams with a winning road record.
