NFL Preview - Cleveland Browns vs Oakland Raiders
October 1, 2006
Cleveland -2.5 at Oakland
I should really be able to just write, “Fade the Raiders,” and leave it at that, because honestly, that’s all the analysis you need. But something tells me you won’t go for that, so I’ll give the analysis a go…
Cleveland almost took out a very good Baltimore team last week in a game they flat-out gave away. Only a questionable play call, followed by an even more questionable throw, prevented the Browns from pulling off the upset of the week. But even in defeat they were impressive. The offense moved the ball effectively against one of the best defenses in the league. They’ve shown far more improvement than people expected with such a young, inexperienced QB at the helm.
The Raiders are an awful, awful football team. I feel bad for Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan, I really do. Aaron Brooks is laid up, still having nightmares about Shawn Merriman abusing him down after down. Andrew Walter might be the QB of the future, but he sure as hell isn’t going to take them anywhere right now. It’s only a matter of time before Moss’ patience runs out, after which he’ll blows a gasket and go “T.O.” on Al Davis and Art Shell.
Hopefully he won’t try to kill himself, though.
Pick: Cleveland -2.5 (www.gambling.net)
