iconJohn Kelly EOG Blog: College Football Forecast and Best Bets

Four members of the EOG family — Viejo Dinosaur, Tuckman, David Glisan and yours truly — will take part in a free football handicapping seminar taking place this weekend at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. The two-day event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, is presented by Vegas Insider.

I’m scheduled to moderate a panel titled “College Football Forecast” on Saturday afternoon at 3:30. I’ll jot down the best thoughts and ideas of the two-hour presentation and include them in my next blog entry. Featured speakers throughout the weekend include Chad Millman, Jimmy Vaccaro, Steve Fezzik, Matt Youmans, Dave Tuley and Andy Iskoe.

If you’re viisiting Las Vegas this weekend, please stop by and say hello. Team EOG will be well represented. Viejo Dinosaur fills the role of EOG’s ombudsman and offshore liasion, Tuckman is our contest coordinator/promotions manager and David Glisan serves as EOG’s Editor-in-Chief.

FRIDAY’S BEST BETS…..I like two games in the WNBA tonight and I made four wagers involving the two contests. I like the “dog” and “over” in both the Washington-Chicago game and the Tulsa-Los Angeles game.

I love to bet quick rematches in any sport, especially the WNBA.

Chicago defeated Washington, 71-70, last Saturday in a game that was decided by free throws with 0.7 seconds remaining. Here’s the key to tonight’s bet: Chicago and Washington played in a 12-point window last weekend (Chicago’s biggest lead was six points as was Washington’s). These teams are close in ability and they have a hard time winning, let alone winning by a margin.

Tulsa is trying hard despite its 1-25 record. The Shock led Los Angeles, 45-32, at halftime last Sunday before the Sparks clamped down defensively and limited Tulsa to 22 second-half points. In what should be an up-and-down contest, with decent offensive players on both teams, I envision Tulsa staying competitive for the entire 40-minute contest.

My four wagers are as follows: 655 Washington +7.5, 655-656 Washington-Chicago “OVER” 144, 657 Tulsa +12.5 and 657-658 Tulsa-Los Angeles “OVER” 148.5.

COMING MONDAY…..Notes and quotes from the Vegas Insider seminar.
