Monday Cubs Host Brewers To Start 3 Game Series – The Cubs and Brewers meet for a second three game series early on this season in a virtual tie for second place in the National League Central as both teams are chasing the 8-4 Cincinnati Reds.

The Cubs are closing out a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, and they could be 7-5 or 6-6 depending on the results of that game. Obviously it is a long season but the Cubs are waiting for their bats to come alive. Through eleven games this season the team as a whole was batting .242 and that wont cut it over the long haul. Meanwhile, the Brewers are batting an even more paltry .238 and the series closer sees Milwaukee planning to use veteran Tom Milone to start in place of Junior Guerra, who was Milwaukee’s opening day starter. The lone bright spot for the Brewers has been the play of first baseman Eric Thames, who has hit 6 home runs and is batting over .360. The Brewers were already juggling their pitchers and their bullpen prior to their first three game stand and that has not changed.

If nothing else the Cubs will want to set a trend of winning at home and send a message that they are going to play up to their talent and not get weighed down by expectations.
