Rockies and Cubbies Close Out 3 Game Set Wed – The Rockies face Cubs at home in the last of three game set Wednesday night. The Cubs will start Kyle Hendricks and youngster German Marquez will get the start for the Rockies. The Monday opener was postponed between the two and the teams were forced to play a double header on Tuesday that saw the Rockies win the opener 10-4 before the Cubs took control of game two, winning 8-1.
The loss of game 1 yesterday briefly dropped the Cubs to 16-16 and playing .500 ball more than 30 games into the season is not where the defending champions want to be. The four game losing streak the loss gave them was their longest of the season but they finally got a solid pitching effort in the night cap from starter John Lackey.
The Cubs are going to re-shuffle their line-up for the last game of the series, resting Anthony Rizzo, who has batted in the 3 spot every game so far for the Cubs. He is banged up after getting hit in the arm by a pitch. Jeimer Candelario will take his spot on the field at first base and lead off hitter Kyle Schwarber will man the 3 spot. Rizzo should be back later in the week.
