Celtics Face Trailblazers in NBA Thursday – The 33-19 Boston Celtics are out west to take on the 23-30 Portland Trailblazers in Thursday night NBA action.
The Trailblazers escaped Dallas on Tuesday with a hard fought 114-113 victory, but it cost them sharpshooter Evan Turner, who suffered a broken hand. The Blazers were led by Damian Lilliard in Dallas, and back court running mate CJ MCCollum rescued the win over the Mavs with a last second shot. The win sets Portland up as the 9th seed out west and they trail the 8th place Denver Nuggets by just one game now. With one days rest and the fact that they are a better home team than on the road, and the Blazers and Celtics Thursday is nearly a pick ’em game.
Meanwhile the Celtics kicked off a 4 game road trip on Wednesday with a loss in Sacramento, 108-92. The loss snapped a seven game winning streak that saw the Celtics climb past the Toronto Raptors to sit in the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics are two games ahead of the surging Washington Wizards, but they are playing the second game of a back to back on the road in this one. On the court, Al Horford has started to feel more comfortable lately and in Isiah Thomas they appear to have found their leader. Thomas is the NBA leader in fourth quarter scoring, averaging more than ten points a game. jaylen Brown has been starting for the injured Avery Bradley, who did not make the trip out west.
