Spurs Face Knicks Sunday in NYC – The 22-33 New York Knicks play Sunday hosts to the 41-12 San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks are on the verge of a lost season, if they have not already reached it. There is open talk about moving Carmelo Anthony and they recently banned Knicks stalwart Charles Oakley from MSG in an open dispute with the owner but these off court trivialities only add to the burden of losing. The Knicks are currently on a four game losing streak and all the losses have come on their home court. The Knicks are expected to be without injured center Joakim Noah
The Spurs play Monday night in Indiana and this game is a Sunday matinee, so it is not out of the question that head coach Gregg Popovich rests some of his starters. Pop’s squad last played Friday when they beat Detroit 103-92. The Spurs are 2-1 so far in a tough eight game road trip that is the longest they have all season. The road trip closes with a pair of Los Angeles games against the Clippers and Lakers.
The Spurs schedule is favorable to them after this road trip, as they play 16 of their final 24 games at home. The Spurs have been one of the league’s best road teams all season and notching a win against the hapless Knicks is the goal for the Spurs.
