Spurs Looking To Close Out Rockets in 6 Thursday – The Spurs found themselves even 2-2 heading into game 5 and with superstar Kawhi Leonard banged up the Spurs looked to be missing Tim Duncan (retired), Tony Parker (injured) and the old guard. On the bench however was 40 year old Manu Ginobili who came out of nowhere to give the Spurs a 110-107 OT win and the series edge.
James Harden has done it all as expected and he has willed his way to two wins in this series. The Spurs need to be careful because Harden is uncontainable, but they can try to exploit a few of his weaknesses. The fact is that he is a flopper and plays no defense so attacking him the way Ginobili did is a solid formula. He is getting solid play from the team around him but there are no other superstars by Harden’s side to share the load. Meanwhile the Spurs are dealing with their own players making adjustments as last year’s big free agent signing Lamarcus Aldridge has started to look like he is coming up short of what the Spurs need.
The bottom line is that the Spurs must show they have the pedigree to recognize what is before them. They need to make short work of the Rockets because the next round will bring the Golden State Warriors and that team is resting right now. For the Rockets, look for harden to dominate in a game that sees their backs to the wall.
