Warriors Visit Thunder Durant Returns to OKC – When the scheduled for the 2016-2017 NBA season was announced this Saturday match-up that sees the 45-8 Golden State Warriors travelling to Oklahoma City to face the 31-23 Thunder was circled as “must see” TV.
This is the first game back in Oklahoma City for Kevin Durant, who fled to the Golden State Warriors during the off-season. The teams have already met earlier this season with Golden State winning by more than twenty points each time, but the OKC faithful will be sure to let Durant know that this is not just any road game. Russell Westbrook and the OKC franchise in general have done a good job of circling the wagons in the wake of Durant’s departure and his return is not likely to be a warm reception.
Russell Westbrook may be the most dynamic player in the league right now but he is facing not only Durant, but Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson and that is just too many weapons on paper for OKC to contend with.
Westbrook and Durant weren’t exactly on the same page at all times when teammates and both men have been relatively silent since the break-up. Westbrook has been playing inspired basketball all year and he is on his way to averaging a triple double over the course of the season’s long haul. Could Westbrook be saving his best game for tonight?
