The Oklahoma Sooners (15-15) and Texas A&M Aggies (13-17) will meet up in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament on Wednesday night inside the Sprint Center

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas A&M Aggies

Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lon Kruger will look to move past the Texas A&M Aggies Wednesday night in the Big 12 Tournament

Oklahoma snapped a two-game losing streak with a 65-62 win over the Texas A&M Aggies as 5.5-point home favorites to close out the regular season, while going “over” the posted total of 125.  The Sooners own a 29-9 series advantage in this series, including a 24-9 mark since the beginning of the Big 12 Conference.  It’s important to note that the two teams split the 2011-12 regular season series.  Oklahoma is 5-6 ATS as a favorite and the “under” is 6-4 in that situation.

The Sooners are 4-3 when playing inside tonight’s venue, including a 1-1 record a year ago.  Oklahoma will need to get after it defensively in order to pull off a victory in this affair, holding opponents to 39 percent shooting from the floor in its five conference wins this season.  Bettors will definitely want to pay attention to the halftime score when considering that the Sooners have managed to outscore their opponent in the second half in just two of 18 conference games this season.

Texas A&M will face the same opponent in the last regular-season game and first Big 12 Championship game for just the second time, doing so back in 1998 when taking on the Baylor Bears.  The Aggies would move on to face the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks if they are able to exact revenge against the Sooners.  The program is 1-12 when playing in this event as the lower-seeded team in its matchups.  Texas A&M is 0-3 ATS on a neutral court this year and the “under” has cashed in two of those affairs.

The Aggies should definitely be able to pull off a slight upset due to 10 of the last 15 meetings in this series being decided by single-digit margins.  Three starters are currently averaging in double figures, with junior guard Elston Turner leading the way in scoring 14.0 points per game.  He ranks eighth in the conference in that category during Big 12 play and has scored 10 or more points in 22 games this season.

Recommendation: Oklahoma Sooners -1
