Cincinnati Faces UCLA RD 2 in Sacramento on Sunday – the #3 seeded UCLA Bruins face the #6 seed Cincinnati Bearcats in a match-up of two teams who have already reached 30 wins in the season.
UCLA got by Kent State in round 1 but suffered a scare when freshman point guard Lonzo Ball went out with a hip injury. Thankfully, Ball will be back .leading the Bruins for Sunday’s game and that should mean that UCLA is going to want to move at an up-tempo.
Meanwhile Cincy coach Mike Cronin has his team steeped in the art of defense and they are going to need to keep the Bruins from creating a track meet type of atmosphere. For Cincy that is going to have to start with discipline on offense where they cannot turn the ball over and let UCLA run their fast breaks. UCLA has athletes that will go right at Cincy big men Kyle Washington and Gary Clark but they may find Cincy weaker defending the three point shot. As for the Bearcats their offense is solid if not spectacular but in the opening round of the tournament they shot the lights out, putting more than 60% of their shots in, including more than 45% from beyond the arc.
Now that we are in the fray of the tournament and the upsets have already started to happen and you want to circle tonight’s game as one to watch.
