Kentucky Duels Wichita State in Round 2 – Get the popcorn out for this one, it is going to be a doozy. The match-up pits two of the nation’s hottest teams as the Wichita State Shockers have won 16 games in a row face the perennial contenders the Kentucky Wildcats, who have won 12 in a row.

Kentucky dispatched the Northern Kentucky Norse in the opening round tournament, but no different was expected. Now they are going to enter a game where the emotion and hype behind the match-up throw a lot of conventional logic to the wind. The Wildcats figure to have their hands full against a team they know pretty well. The Wildcats under John Calipari are frequernt visitors to the Sweet 16 but they face a real test in this one.

The Wichita State team came in a #10 seed and they slugged there way to an ugly 64-58 win over the Dayton Flyers. The Shockers put together a great season, winning more than 30 games in the Missouri Valley Conference. Some had the team a top 10 ranked squad and many experts predicted a 4-5 seed for the Shockers heading into the big dance.

The conspiracy theorists are out for this one, as the two squads played a memorable 2014 tournament game when the Shockers were a #1 seed and Kentucky was seeded 8. That game ended in a Wildcat upset victory 78-76 and the game is one that is not easily forgotten.
