Bodog Announces Betting Odds for Inaugural World Series of Poker Europe
Septemer 6, 2007
Poker's premier event, the World Series of Poker, begins a new chapter this week in London when the inaugural WSOP Europe kicks off on September 6, and as always, the Bodog Sportsbook (http://www.newbodog.com/sports-betting/poker.jsp) is on top of the action with a variety of wagers that offer poker fans a chance to get in on the action, including several "last longer" bets pitting poker's biggest names against each other.
While everyone expects the ?10,000 buy-in Main Event in London to draw a much smaller field than its counterpart in Las Vegas, how much smaller is anyone's guess. The Bodog oddsmakers see the 575-649 and 650-749 range as the favorites, both at 9/4 odds, while the odds that there will be more than the WSOP's stated goal of 750 is listed at 3/1.
Also on the Bodog betting block is whether an American-born poker player will win the WSOP Europe Main Event, a criteria even the 2007 World Champ Jerry Yang wouldn't meet as the California resident was born in Laos. With participants from Europe expected to outnumber greatly those from America, Bodog oddsmakers see someone other than a "Yank" taking home the title, putting "No" at -450 and "Yes" at +275.
The Bodog Sportsbook also has odds posted on which poker pro will earn the most money over the course of the three tournaments, with the two Phils listed as the favorites and Ivey just edging out the 11- time WSOP bracelet winner Hellmuth at 4/1 and 5/1, respectively.
Along the same lines is a last-longer bet for just the Main Event itself with perennial favorite Phil Ivey once again at the top at 8/1 odds, just barely edging out Hellmuth, who sits at 9/1. Also included are Team Bodog poker pro David Williams (14/1), 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Doyle Brunson (14/1) and Spain's Carlos Mortensen (10/1), who is the highest European poker player listed.
Poker fans can get these and other WSOP Europe Props in the Bodog Sportsbook (http://www.newbodog.com/sports-betting/poker.jsp) and then head over to the Bodog Beat (http://www.newbodogbeat.com/) to keep up with the action live from the 2007 WSOP Europe in London, England, starting on Thursday, September 6.
