Pack LogoNFL Sports Preview: Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings

One of the most anticipated Monday night football betting match-ups in years takes place in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome tonight when the Green Bay Packers (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) take on Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings (3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) in an NFL wagering battle for supremacy in the NFC North.  Green Bay bounced back from a tough sports wagering loss to Cincinnati two weeks ago with an easy win over St. Louis last week.  The Vikings, meanwhile, needed a bit of late game magic from Favre in order to slip past the 49ers at home last Sunday.

After spending three years in Favre's shadow in Green Bay, QB Aaron Rodgers will look to show his former mentor what he can do when these two meet.  In the Packers' 36-17 pro football wagering victory over the Rams, Rodgers was efficient in completing 13 of 23 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns while also scrambling eight times for 38 yards and a touchdown.  Rodgers connected on quite a few deep balls with Greg Jennings and Donald Driver as the two receivers teamed up for 198 yards and a touchdown on only six catches.  Notre Dame product Ryan Grant was solid on the ground for the Packers, falling just short of the century mark with 99 yards on 26 carries.  Seldom used FB John Kuhn reached paydirt twice on a 10-yard catch and a one yard plunge.

Naysayers were left with mouths agape on Sunday after the cagey Favre was able to summon some last second heroics to keep the Vikings undefeated on the year.  Although the Vikes weren't able to cover the touchdown spread per the NFL gambling odds, they were more than happy to take the win after battling with the 49ers all day.  Favre looked like the Favre of old with a virtuoso performance where he completed 24 of 46 passes for 301 yards with two touchdowns and an interception on the day.  One of his favorite targets was first-round draft pick Percy Harvin, who caught four passes for 51 yards and scored on an electrifying 101-yard kickoff return that resulted in six.  Franchise tailback Adrian Peterson was steady carrying the ball with 19 runs for 85 yards on the day.

Sports gambling odds have the Vikes as 4.5 point home favorites in this game with a football gambling total of 45.5 points.
