Eskimos LogoEOG CFL Sports Betting Preview: Edmonton Eskimos vs. British Columbia Lions

The last playoff berth in the CFL's Western Conference will be handed out to the winner of Friday night's Canadian Football betting bash between the Edmonton Eskimos (8-9, 5-12 ATS) and the British Columbia Lions (8-9, 9-8 ATS) at BC Place. The winner of this football gambling clash will be eliminated from the playoffs if Hamilton loses to Winnipeg on Sunday, but will play at Ivor-Wynne Stadium as the crossover team in the postseason if the Ti-Cats beat the Blue Bombers. In the event of a tie, both teams qualify for the playoffs, with BC staying in the West, and Edmonton crossing over to the East. The Leos have already won the season series with the Eskies, beating them 34-31 and 40-22 at Commonwealth Stadium earlier this year.

QB Ricky Ray will likely reach his fourth 5,000+ yard season in the L/5 years on Friday night. The MOP candidate has thrown for 4,728 yards and 21 touchdowns against just ten interceptions. He'll face a difficult defense on Friday, as the Leos rank #1 in the CFL against the pass at just 219.4 yards per game allowed. However, against BC this season, Ray has gone off for 489 yards and four scores. RB Arkee Whitlock will have to have a big game for the Eskimos to clinch a playoff berth. He continues to be a pleasant surprise for Eskimos betting fans, as he crossed the 1,000-yard barrier last week. After RB Jesse Lumsden went down at the start of the season, Whitlock has filled in admirably and has the green and gold on the verge of the postseason.

Buck Pierce has given it a shot. So has Jarious Jackson. Even Travis Lulay has had his chances. However, if HC Wally Buono is bringing his Lions back to the playoffs, it's going to be up to veteran QB Casey Printers. Printers will be making his third start of the season for the Leos. He has thrown for 676 yards and three scores against two picks so far this year, and BC is 0-2 to show for it. A third straight CFL gambling loss would likely be fatal. Truth be told, if Printers can't pick apart Edmonton's #8 ranked defense against the pass, the Lions are in a heck of a lot of trouble even if they do sneak into the Eastern Conference playoffs.

It should come as no surprise that the hosts are slender 3.5-point favorites to lock up a berth in the CFL betting playoffs on Friday night. The oddsmakers have lined the football wagering 'total' at 54.
