Eagles LogoEOG Sports Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday Night Football betting action heads to the City of Brotherly Love, where first place in the NFC East will be on the line. The Dallas Cowboys (5-2, 4-3 ATS) will invade Lincoln Financial Field to do battle with the Philadelphia Eagles (5-2, 5-2 ATS). Philadelphia has already logged divisional victories against both Washington and New York this year, while Dallas lost its only NFC East betting battle against the Giants in Week 2. The winner will hold a one-game lead on the loser at the halfway point of the season, and will be ahead of the Giants by either one or two games in the loss column depending on the result of their game against the Chargers earlier in the day.

There's still a big question as to whether the Cowboys have been that good or have had that easy of a schedule. Their only truly impressive win came two weeks ago against Atlanta, as NFL wagering victories against Tampa Bay, Carolina, Kansas City, and Seattle aren't anything of real note. Still, it's hard to argue over how goo d their offense has been this year behind QB Tony Romo. Romo has thrown for 1,908 yards and 12 scores this year, pacing an 'O' that ranks #2 in the NFL at 411.1 yards per game. The Dallas offense has scored at least 31 points in four of its seven games this season.

The Cowboys' offense will be tested against a Philadelphia defense that has been fantastic in 2009. Eagles' betting fans have only seen their squad allow more than 17 points once this season, that coming in their 48-22 sports gambling debacle against New Orleans in Week 2. Much like Dallas though, there's a question about how strong this schedule has been. Philly lost to Oakland in Week 6 betting action, and have only beaten one playoff-caliber squad when it took out the Giants 40-17 last week. The offense has put at least 33 points on the board three times this year as well, so the Eagles aren't any stranger to lighting up the scoreboard either.

Last season, these two teams met in what amounted to be a playoff game in the final week of the regular season. The Eagles romped the Cowboys 44-6 to advance to the postseason. Today, if Dallas is going to exact some revenge, it's going to do so as three-point underdogs. The oddsmakers have lined the NFL betting 'total' at 50.
