EOG College Football Sports Betting Preview: West Virginia Mountaineers vs Cincinnati Bearcats
Big East foes looking for their conference's championship and an automatic BCS bid square off Friday night in the Queen City when the Cincinnati Bearcats (9-0 SU, 5-3 ATS) host the West Virginia Mountaineers (7-2 SU, 2-6 ATS) in a CFB betting affair. The Mountaineers are coming off a lethargic performance against lackluster Louisville, a 17-9 victory in which they failed to cover the NCAA gambling odds. As for Cincinnati, the Bearcats barely held on to a 16 point lead and squeaked by Connecticut 47-45.
Perhaps the Mountaineer offense was looking past Louisville, but they failed to impress last Saturday afternoon against the Cardinals. QB Jarrett Brown was mostly contained by the Louisville defense to the chagrin of West Virginia betting enthusiasts. Brown only completed nine of 17 passes for 94 yards with a touchdown and an interception on the afternoon. RB Noel Devine was surprisingly held in check by the Cardinals defense as well, only managing a scant 56 yards on 13 carries and failing to pick up any receiving yards. WR Jock Sanders was somewhat contained as well, with just three catches for 20 yards and a touchdown while carrying the ball 12 times for 66 yards in the Wildcat formation. HC Bill Stewart's defense will also have to improve if they hope to pick up a sports wagering win on Friday night. The Mountaineers defense let Cards' RB Darius Ashley scamper for 165 yards on them last week in Morgantown.
The Bearcats put together one of the most dominating offensive performances of the college football wagering season last Saturday night against the Huskies, but their porous defense almost cost them the game. Cincinnati racked up a mind boggling 711 yards of offense and committed no turnovers in the game. QB Zach Collaros shined in place of the injured Tony Pike, completing 29 of 37 passes for 480 yards and a TD while scampering for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Both WR Mardy Gilyard and WR Armon Binns had big games for Cincinnati betting fans as well, with Gilyard hauling in 12 balls for 172 yards and Binns catching five passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. RB Isaiah Pead carried the ball 10 times for 67 yards and two scores on the ground.
NCAA gambling odds have the Bearcats as a 9.5 point favorite with the total of 55 points.
