Purdue LogoCollege Basketball Sports Betting Preview: Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs Purdue Boilermakers

ACC-Big Ten Challenge betting begins on Tuesday night with coverage on the ESPN family of networks.  In the undercard clash of a pair of great college basketball wagering clashes, the youthful Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-1, 1-1 ATS) play the Purdue Boilermakers (5-0, 2-2-1 ATS).  The Demon Deacons are coming off of a bad loss at home to William & Mary, while Purdue is coming off of a very busy week and a slew of NCAAB gambling action, where it beat South Dakota State, St. Joseph's, Tennessee, and Central Michigan.  The Boilers will be putting their #6 national ranking on the line, while Wake Forest is still searching for respect in a very crowded ACC.

The Demon Deacons haven't been tested by the highest of competition yet this season, but up until that surprising loss to the Tribe three days ago, they had been crushing their opponents.  Wake Forest's advantage in this game could come on the glass, where it ranks #2 in the country with 42.2 rebounds per game.  The Deacs are averaging nearly ten full rebounds per game more than their competition.  In this basketball betting battle, watch out for 6'9" F Aminu Al-Farouq, who leads the team with 18.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.  Al-Farouq can also draw the Purdue bigs to the outside, as he is not afraid to shoot the three ball where he is 5/18 from downtown this year.

Purdue betting fans have had a mixed bag of results this season, largely because the oddsmakers have a ton of respect for them.  The Boilermakers are a veteran-laden team that has the potential to make a run to the Final Four.  G E'Twaun Moore, F Robbie Hummel, and F JaJuan Johnson are leading the way for Purdue.  Moore leads the team with 15.8 points per game, but Hummel's 14.2 and Johnson's 13.0 aren't far behind.  Hummel should be a great match-up for Al-Farouq, as he can also draw the lengthy players for Wake Forest out to the perimeter.  Purdue's 32.2 rebounds per game is only the 194th best mark in the country, which will have to be a point of emphasis in this CBB gambling game.

The basketball betting line features the hosts as 11-point favorites.  Wake Forest is 13-5 ATS in its L/18 games against teams with a .600 winning percentage or better, but Purdue is an even more impressive 10-3 ATS in its L/13 college basketball wagering battles against teams with .600 or better winning percentages.
