PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (VANCE WORLEY) AT LOS ANGELES DODGERS (CHAD BILLINGSLEY) 12:10 PM PACIFICAs we pointed out on the EOG Sports Hour on Tuesday night, we’d rather be “on” the Philadelphia Phillies freight train than “in front of it”. Phillies takin’ care of business lately winning 11 of their last 12 and going for the sweep here. If you’ve read our periodic updates of the most and least profitable MLB betting teams you’ve read our discussion of the Phillies—despite having the best record in baseball they remain undervalued by the betting public and thus are a very profitable investment. With Tuesday’s win they’re now +20.8 units overall and +7.4 units on the road. They’ve had a solid campaign against RHP posting +11.3 units of profit and have banked +13.6 units against opponents with losing records. The Dodgers have lost money overall and this isn’t a good matchup from them based on a couple of situational components either—they’re -11.6 units at home and -13.5 units against RHP. Vance Worley may be the most underrated pitcher in baseball at the moment—he checks in with a 2.35 ERA on the year and the Phillies have won 11 of his 13 starts including 5 of 6 on the road.
Bet Philadelphia Phillies (Worley) -125 over Los Angeles Dodgers (Billingsley)
ATLANTA BRAVES (TIM HUDSON) AT FLORIDA MARLINS (ANABEL SANCHEZ)
Similar concept to yesterday—Braves need to step up their game if they’re going to make a run at the red hot Phillies and have a great opportunity to get a sweep against the slumping Marlins. Florida has now lost six straight and 7 of their last 10. Tim Hudson has been in very good form lately with a 2.54 ERA in his last three outings. Sanchez hasn’t look sharp at all in his recent appearances with a 5.12 L3 ERA. We’ll take the better team at a reasonable price.
Bet Atlanta Braves (Hudson) -115 over Florida Marlins (Sanchez)
CHICAGO WHITE SOX (PHILIP HUMBER) AT BALTIMORE ORIOLES (TOMMY HUNTER)
Another reprise of a successful handicapping position from Tuesday–White Sox have been profitable on the road (33-26 +12 units) and are coming off a weekend sweep of Minnesota and can get a sweep here. Orioles have lost 10 of their last 13 and have become one of the biggest overall money losers in baseball dropping -22.2 units on the season.
Bet Chicago White Sox (Humber) -120 over Baltimore Orioles (Hunter)
