The Dallas Mavericks (19-11) and Philadelphia 76ers (20-10) will take on each other Friday night inside the Wells Fargo Center

Dallas Mavericks at Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are 13-5 overall inside the Wells Fargo Center this year

Dallas has won five games in a row and heads out on the road for a two-game road trip after registering an impressive 102-84 win over the Denver Nuggets as seven-point home favorites.  “Depth is the strength of our team,” commented Mavericks forward Lamar Odom.  “We’re having fun playing together.”  The Mavericks are 7-6 overall on the road, which includes a 2-1 mark versus Eastern Conference opponents.  Dallas is 13-4 ATS as a road underdog of three points or less over the last two-plus seasons.

The Mavericks have the league’s second-best bench in terms of point production, averaging 43.7 points per game, which is just behind Friday’s opponent.  Dallas swept the 2010-11 season series with Philadelphia and has gone 7-4 in the last 11 matchups in this series on the road.  During the team’s current win streak, the Mavericks are averaging 100.8 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting, while giving up 92.4 points per game on 40.4 percent shooting.

Philadelphia comes back home after posting a 2-1 mark on its three-game road trip, dropping a 103-87 decision to the Orlando Magic as 2.5-point underdogs last time out.  The 76ers have gone “over” the total in five of their last seven games.  Sitting atop the Atlantic Division, the team has been led by a defense that ranks among the NBA’s best, allowing 87.3 points per game.  It’s important to note that the franchise has struggled offensively at home recently, scoring just 85.3 points per game in the last four contests inside the Wells Fargo Center.  Philadelphia is 16-7 ATS as a favorite this season.

The 76ers are 13-5 overall at home during the 2011-12 campaign, but have dropped three of five contests versus Western Conference foes.  Philadelphia has scored 100-plus points just once over the past 11 meetings with Dallas, being held below 90 points five times.  Forward Andre Iguodala figures to play a prominent role in determining the victory of this contest, averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists against the Mavericks in last year’s series.

Bettors will likely back the Mavericks due to their 7-0 ATS mark versus Atlantic division teams, while the 76ers are 1-4 ATS as a home favorite of 4.5 points or less.

Recommendation: Dallas Mavericks +3
