Cowboys Face Packers in NFC Playoff Showdown – Sunday carries the better playoff match-ups this weekend and none may be juicier than when the 13-3 Dallas Cowboys host the 10-6 Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
The Packers come into the game battle tested already in the playoffs, as they ousted the New York Giants in the wildcard round by a score of 38-13. The win is significant in that it was the Giants who pinned two of the three losses on Dallas’ record this year. Green Bay survived a rocky early season that saw them take a loss to the Cowboys in week 6 to come back strong and win their division, and QB Aaron Rodgers played like an MVP candidate in the second half of the 2016 campaign.
As good as Dak Prescott and Zeke Elliott have been throughout this season, this is their first foray into the playoffs, and the post-season is a whole different animal. It is comforting that they will be at home, but the Packers represent a stiff test, not because they are hot and beat the Cowboy-killing Giants, but because Aaron Rodgers has been there before and experience sometimes counts in these kind of situations.
It will serve Prescott and Elliott well to strike early and get up on the Packers. If the Pack can keep it close or gt to an early lead, Dallas will have to show it has the mental toughness to stay composed during the heat of the playoffs. Whatever Dallas does, it will be a new experience for them, while for Rodgers and company, it is old hat.
