The so- called "wave" or "caravans" of migrants coming to the border is nothing new. It's been happening fo a long time. It's all relative to population scale. As the world grows in size, by percentage/ratio there'll be more migrants. Plus the amplification by media to point it out.Record Numbers of Migrants Arrested at Southern Border, With Two Million Annual Total in Sight
Border Patrol agents have made about 1.82 million arrests at the southern border in the government’s fiscal year so far, which ends Sept. 30
Record numbers of migrants are being arrested while crossing the southern U.S. border with Mexico, a sustained surge of single men and families from across Latin America either seeking asylum or work, according to new figures Monday from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Border Patrol agents have made about 1.82 million arrests at the southern border so far in the government’s fiscal year, which runs from October to the end of September. The number beats the record set last fiscal year, which was 1.66 million apprehensions in the year ending September 2021.
With about two months left in the agency’s fiscal year, full-year arrests are expected to break the two million mark for the first time, analysts said.
“We’re apprehending people left and right,” said Border Patrol agent Jesus Vasalvilbaso, surveying a section of border fencing in downtown Nogales, Ariz., on a recent day.
The surge comes amid rising political tension between the Biden administration and Republican-led states, which have filed lawsuits blocking federal government efforts to lift Trump-era immigration programs.
The bigger issue is why our State Dept and any of the presidents in past 40 yrs haven't went directly to the Countries in "Central America" and asked "What da hell is wrong?!" and how we and any other countries can help them find a solution to keep their people from wanting, or needing, to flee.
Maybe start getting some of these covert paid-hired-for-profit militia groups to take control, or help with control. Maybe convince some of the garment/apparel companies, or any other company that makes products/goods that are considered cheap and/or disposable: aka small appliances, knick knacks, toys, etc. - and that make those products in China - to move them to Central America.
Gotta address the source of why and where they are coming from. Can't just have a shitload of border agents - and keep hiring more, and allocating more and more money to equipment and whatnot - in hopes that we'll catch them all. Not to mention they're claiming asylum anyway, and causing more paper work and legal logjams.
