Found this well-written article (from 2 years ago), detailing the back story of the Arizona Coyotes failure to find a stable home
in either Tempe or Glendale.
Obviously wrong to oversimplify the multitude of sustainability issues but I’d say that the best way to operate an NHL franchise
without controversy is to build or control your arena from the start. This failure ultimately caused the Coyotes demise.

I’m perplexed by the direction that the maple leafs have taken with Auston Matthews.

He scored a league leading 69 goals this year so why is he playing on a line with two very mediocre journeymen Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi?

Bertuzzi has been with Detroit many years with lukewarm stats and no playoff experience. Domi has floundered everywhere he’s been with no stability or achievements.

This has to be a failure of Leafs GM Brad Treveling to find one or two respectable line mates for his marquee goal scoring superstar.

Just thinking about Gretzky and Kurri, Lemaire and Lafleur, Esposito and Cashman, Hull and Mikita, Lemieux and Jagr, Trottier and Bossy, and it’s Auston Matthews and Max Domi?? Please.

Leafs need a lot of help if they’re ever going to win anything again. End rant.

Not too many surprises early.
Goaltending is becoming a concern for Av’s, Stars and possibly Kings.
Leafs improved last night after reading my post in locker room before game.

Avalanche is my ML pick tonight (-112 approx) after their dominant 3rd period against Jets Sunday.

Thoughts on last night’s games.

Leafs hurting.
Leafs have been without Nylander this playoffs and it’s been a huge loss.
Nylander scored more points than everyone on Boston except for Pastrnak in regular season.
Nylander was a quarterback of leaf power play all season with his elite play making skills.
Nylander was a key in playoffs last year’s playoffs when he scored 10 points in 11 games.
Footnote that Marner is still not recovered from his high ankle injury from early April.
Marner, at his best, is among best playmakers in the league.

Jack Eichel has elite offensive skills.
In last years playoffs he led all players in assists, 20, and points, 26.
He is picking up this year where he left off, already with 4 points in 2 games.
Vegas defence is mature, confident and big. They will be stingy with scoring chances.
Dallas are sputtering offensively against VGK after registering the third highest goal differential in the league’s regular season.
It looks like it’s time for Logan Thompson to get some respect.
He was the VGK workhorse this year between the pipes while posting a GAA of a very solid 2.70.
Early in these playoffs, but his GAA is 2.00.

Oilers defence never got the memo.
When you have an explosive offence led by McDavid, Draisitl and Hyman, you should think about just playing solid defence.
It boggles the mind why Bouchard and Nurse are always caught out of position.
Last night they allowed too many chances for Kings and Nurse allowing Kopitar to sneak behind him and score the overtime winner.
It’s just embarrassing and avoidable.
Oilers have a powerful offensive arsenal. If you’re a defender, concentrate on defence and let the scoring machine do what they do.
Makes no sense Darnell. Not too bright.

Thanks for the writeups and info, wow that was a sick stop by Bob, figured the Panther would beat TB but surprised they are up 3-0. Looks like Nylander is back for Leafs tonight. Enjoy the games!

I don't know how many times Edm has won a 1-0 game, but they did it the other day, got badly outshot and outplayed, Skinner was brilliant, not the typical game they win, have to think they have a much better effort at home in game 5 and close out the series
